Cotswold Energy Consulting
Independent commercial advice across PPAs, renewables, private wire, BESS, LDES, hydrogen, e-fuels and expert-witness matters.
About
Established in 2022, Cotswold Energy Consulting helps clients address complex challenges across energy trading, renewable generation and supply—breaking them down clearly and simply to identify practical, commercially grounded solutions.
The company
We advise established utilities, developers, infrastructure owners, investors, professional advisers and major energy users.
Assignments range from focused independent reviews to long-term project development and commercial leadership. The consultancy is senior-led and project-focused, working with specialist technical, legal and financial partners where an assignment requires broader capability.
Our perspective is international. Alongside extensive UK work, projects have supported Australian renewable-fuels development and Japanese investment and utility interests in energy storage and emerging technologies.

Who are we?
More than 35 years across UK power and gas markets, energy trading, commercial origination and renewable development.
Jake began his career in energy broking in 1991 and went on to hold senior roles with E.ON, AEP, Deloitte, Magnox/NDA, ESB International and Vattenfall. He established Vattenfall's UK third-party PPA business and later led its UK commercial development beyond wind, covering solar, storage, hydrogen and co-location.
He holds an LLM in Commercial Law from the University of Bristol and a BSc in Management Science from the University of Manchester.
Cotswold Energy Consulting also works with a trusted network of experienced colleagues in Germany and Australia, bringing additional market perspective and specialist capability where required.

How we work
Assume nothing. We bring a fresh, independent pair of eyes to define what really needs to be achieved before considering the solution.
We compare the options, costs, obstacles and delivery risks, resolve the challenges and ask whether a simpler route would work better—ensuring the solution serves the objective, not the other way round.
A clear, proportionate and cost-effective delivery plan, focused on fulfilling the original objective and carrying it through to a successful outcome.
